Our Approach

Figure 1 shows a typical a care delivery setting. It is a complex interaction between people, business units and other entities internal and external to the organization.

In such a complex environment, how can process improvements (enabled by Information Technology) be strategically applied to gain the maximum benefit?
Cyrus-XP’s approach involves viewing a Client’s care delivery organization as ‘one’ value generating process. The methodology comprises of six steps: Discerning, Visioning, Assessing, Mapping, Executing and Evolving (Figure 2).

BulletImage Discerning
(di’surn - recognize, tell apart, perceive, detect, differentiate)The first step in the Cyrus-XP methodology is to understand the value creation process within the Client organization. To gain an understanding of the process, investigations are conducted to extract knowledge from existing documentation or personnel. The results of the investigation are documented to form the basis for subsequent steps in the methodology.
BulletImage Visioning
(vizhun – imagine, foresee, predict, anticipate)The second step is to understand ‘The Vision’ for the future process or state, not yet realized. During this step information regarding tangible and intangible success metrics is collected. These success metrics are recorded in such a way that progress can be measured by comparing against them, as accurately as possible.
BulletImage Assessing
(ə-sĕs’mənt – measurement, judgment, review)The third step is to take stock of available resources. This allows for a reasonable judgment regarding how much of ‘The Vision’ can be achieved with resources on hand. During this step ‘The Vision’ and success metrics may have to be modified, to be achievable given existing constraints.
BulletImage Mapping
(map – plan, delineate, arrange in detail)The third step is to determine a path to achieving ‘The Vision’, paying attention to various parameters such as budget, time line and other constraints determined by the Client. This involves lining up tasks and acquiring resources only when they are needed during the process, so as to reduce waste.
BulletImage Executing
(’eksu`kyoot – perform, carry out, enforce, process)The fourth step in the method is to execute tasks (projects) determined within the plan. A task may be simple (fewer man hours; fewer iterations of analysis, design, development and testing) or complex (many man hours, many iterations of analysis, design, development and testing). As each task is completed, success is measured against the pre-determined success metrics.
BulletImage Evolving
(i’vólv – germinate, develop, change, acquire)Managing change is a crucial part of the execution strategy. As milestones are achieved, changes are anticipated from various sources – e.g. management redirection, changes in regulatory requirements and changes in the business environment…etc. These changes may impact ‘The Vision’ and how it is achieved. The evolution stage allows for change management and control.
